What was the biggest challenge with your old bathroom?
The biggest challenge with our current bathroom was that it never had a bath. With a little one, and a second one on the way, we knew we really wanted to have a bathroom in our home with a bath for them to enjoy. We wanted to create an ensuite that was larger to accommodate this. An ensuite that we could all use. From relaxing showers, to children’s bath time - we needed a bathroom that could do it all - and have the storage space to tuck it all away come an evening.
The Lansdown vanity gave us that. A beautiful, timeless vanity unit that has plenty of storage and worktop space. A luxury piece for me to enjoy doing my make up at with the combination of the beautiful Alderbury Mirror above.
What inspired your design choices?
I wanted to create a timeless but modern ensuite. One that was practical but beautiful too. Timeless in the style choices - the traditional shower head and taps - But modern touches like the large vanity unit with the T- Bar handles. I wanted it to feel like a luxury hotel ensuite and I always hoped to have a beautiful stand alone vanity unit. I feel they really are beautiful and classic.
What was the brief for the renovation?
The brief was to create a brand new beautiful and practical ensuite. Complete with all the things that make the perfect bathroom. A large shower area with a seat, luxury separate bath and plenty of storage space. Our home only ever had one bathroom so this was a big, but exciting, undertaking. We needed the extra bathroom and the space. We are so glad we have achieved this with the help from Tavistock.
Hooks for robes easily accessible by the shower was inspired by a luxury bathroom I had seen online as well as the valves placed further away from the shower head so you don’t get soaked turning on your shower. The separate shower head helps me clean the shower easily, whilst still having the rainfall shower for those relaxing soaks. The Matt black vanity complimented against the muted pink walls bringing a modern touch. The vanity makes for a real statement piece against the sharp white worktop and sanitary ware. I loved the marble grey styled tiles that gave a nod to traditional tiles whilst remaining modern.
What makes the biggest difference in your new bathroom?
The biggest difference has been being able to enjoy the large bath. The curves makes it modern whilst the corners going straight to the wall make it practical for cleaning, whilst also providing a space to store bubble baths and decorative pieces (and bath toys for the kids) It’s a great deep bath for those wonderful relaxing soaks!
What is your favourite Tavistock product?
My favourite product has to be the Lansdown 1200 Matt Black Vanity with the Alderbury mirror above - which turns on when you walk in the room and can adjust to different brightness levels. The vanity was one of the first things I chose before selecting the sanitary ware. Tavistock had so many beautiful colours it was hard to narrow down one. It really makes the ensuite so special and luxurious. It’s like a hotel ensuite! A real treat. I still pinch myself when I walk in the room. I have always wanted a beautiful ensuite and this one is now so special.
