Kayleigh from @highburyreno has the pleasure of living in a beautiful Edwardian home and understands both the charm and the challenges that come with it. She came to us looking to create a much-needed ensuite, as the property only had one bathroom prior to this, and over the past six months we’ve worked closely with her to bring this dream space to life. Taking inspiration from the home’s traditional character, Kayleigh selected pieces from the Tavistock classic collection to create an ensuite that feels both timeless and perfectly in keeping with the property.

What was the biggest challenge with your old bathroom?
"Living in an old Edwardian home, we had no bathroom at all upstairs and it always felt like the house was missing something. Adding the en-suite now gives the home a little extra luxury and means I can do my skincare, brush my teeth, and hope straight into bed."
How did you decide on the style of the renovation?
"We knew we wanted to keep the traditional style that the rest of the house has, but take it up a notch with a design that felt luxurious and a little more special. Mixing the Vitoria Furniture and Lansdown Sanitaryware range from Tavistock helped to achieve just that. Mixing the Linen White units with the dark wall paint has created a space that feels like you’re being hugged the minute you walk in."
What feature makes the biggest difference in your new bathroom?
"The huge Verge Framed Mirror for sure. My partner and I argued about which mirror to put here as he thought the Verge was too big but he was of course wrong - it’s perfect! It adds light, is perfect for quick make up touch ups before heading out the door, and the brushed brass ties in the other brass accents in the room."
Do you have any advice for others going into a bathroom renovation?

"Take your time when it comes to the design process. The bathroom is one of the most uses spaces in your home and it has to work for you and your family. Simple things like where to put the toilet roll holder, or adding a wall mounted soap dispenser instead of a freestanding one, can make all the difference when it comes to how you use the space."
