The Green Bathroom Trend
From Pantone’s ‘Greenery’ to Bottega Veneta’s bold emerald, green has slowly been having a resurgence. It’s a polarising colour, in terms of interiors, as it can so often appear garish when styled poorly.
No longer are we seeing the more eccentric full jade-green suites though, instead sage, pistachio and emerald are entering the bathroom in tasteful and more palatable ways.
Sage green.
As a muted, more neutral shade of green, sage has seen a real boost in popularity in the past few years. The homely but refined Soho House trend, championed by designers such as @houseninedesign and @laurencaisleyinteriors, has seen sage used to bring a freshness to the cosy palette of farmhouse style. The colour evokes a feeling of calm and wellbeing, making it a perfect tone for the bathroom.
Emerald green.
Jewel toned emerald is particularly stand-out in bathrooms. Displayed well with tiles that bounce the light around, emerald is not quite as daunting as you may think. The colour leads to an opulent feel in bathrooms, so don’t count it out when it comes to selecting your tiles or bathroom paints. If emerald tiles seem too much of a commitment, try luxe green glass accessories or plush bathmats.
Moss green.
If you’re looking for a comforting, mid tone shade of green, moss green is a great colour to go for. Not too light, not too dark, the hue is perfect for classically styled bathrooms. Plants
Bringing the outside in has been a prolific trend in 2021 and adding an abundance of greenery is a great way to add green to your bathroom in a cheaper and more approachable way. From small countertop succulents to larger, more jungle inspired bathroom plants, there are plenty of options. For those of you who lack that green-fingered gene, though, artificial plants have hugely improved in quality in the past few years so you can add foliage to your bathroom with ease.
Play it safe.
Accessories are a great way of trialling a colour in a room without the more invasive requirements of bathroom furniture or tiles. By selecting green towels, soap dishes or even artwork, you can see how the colour will look in the room and if you tire of it, then you know it might not be right for you!
